Translation

In the consulships of Decimus Junius and Quintus Haterius, Nero, aged sixteen years, married Octavia, the daughter of the emperor. And so that he might shine through honourable pursuits and the glory of eloquence, having taken up the cause of the Ilienses, and having eloquently presented that the Roman race was descended from Troy and that Aeneas was the founder of the Julian line, and other ancient matters not far from legends, he achieved the result that the Ilienses were released from all public obligations. With the same advocate, the colony of Bononia, which had been consumed by fire, was aided with a grant of ten million sesterces. Their liberty was restored to the Rhodians, which had often been taken away or confirmed, according to whether they had deserved it in foreign wars or had offended through sedition at home; and tribute was remitted for five years to the Apameans, who had been convulsed by an earthquake.
